2.[Viewpoint] Be brave in brave new media world
3.Have u ever watched any SF movies? Thesedays, I can feel that now world changes more conveniently. Although Smartphone released just few month ago, Now, Smart TV will be released soon. It is really fantastic! But is it really comfortable to us? Well, sometimes i missed analog era. of course, now we can search any information through internet using phone, computer even now can use on TV too. And now, World changes like "media world". I really anticipate Next media stuffs.

    -----------------

The smart TVs are prompting the development of applications that will transform the consumer’s passive act of watching TV into a personalized experience of playing games, shopping, exercising and gaining information, or even using the TV in his or her line of work. The knowledge spread through print in the new digital habitat will stream across the online network system, and will be automatically tailored to meet the consumer’s taste and intelligence level.

The digital media industry will initially be led by broadband networks and new innovative devices and platforms like TV sets or mobile phones. But the real competition will be in the realm of content, or software, that tech-savvy consumers will grow to desire. Apple earns more revenue from apps than selling iPhones, and the trend will unlikely change in the future. The company’s competitive edge in apps and software is underscored by its confidence in putting a very affordable price tag on its iTV.

We, too, have belatedly joined the flow, passing a new media law in the hopes of enlarging the market, stimulating content development and laying the groundwork for the smart TV era

    3. When You go to the movie theater 'CGV', You can see the 3D screen Ad says that 'Technology will make people free'. When I saw the ad, I wondered whether it is real or not. While it is too early to evaluate utility of technology, I think, This news have negative opinion of new technology like smart phone.
Smart phone is hot issue in Korea. Many related industries thrive and people feel mad to get one.
I agree some part of this news writer. We should keep asking for ourselves whether it is really necessary and helping for our life, and should consider that our needs really come from ourselves' not others'.

When television was invented, some people feared that television would make people stupid. When the computer was invented, some people worried that the computer would make people fool. Now, it’s smartphone’s turn. Some people worry that smarphones are making people dumb.

“Everyone I know has a smartphone. Some people I know have more than one. Our need for constant internet access, email, instant messaging, Twitter, Facebook, and texting has gotten to the point where it’s actually distressing to people to turn the phone off and let the world go for a while,” said Zdnet.com columnist, Scott Raymond.

His message may be a food for thought for growing smartphone addicts in South Korea too.

Raymond believes that it all has come from people’s “greed” to have information “at hand.”

“We did this to ourselves, and we keep asking for more. A combination of the next new shiny, the need/desire for more capability, and convergence of devices and services pushed the mobile phone in a direction that the original portable cellphone manufacturers never even conceived of.”

And also a lift style that can’t do away with all this smartphone-supported conveniences.

“These days, we have video communication, we can surf the internet, listen to our music, play games, read books, watch videos and dozens of other things.

“But this functionality has come at a heavy price,” he warned.

There are people getting killed in car accidents because of texting while driving. Something that usually requires both hands and visual attention쭯the two primary factors necessary for driving, he said. “The smartphone has become such a distraction that people are dying because they needed to update their status on Facebook.”

“This needs to stop. We’re turning into a world of inconsiderate, oblivious idiots, more interested in what’s on a tiny handheld device than what’s right in front of our faces. If an oncoming car happens to be what’s right in front of our faces, we would have no one to blame but ourselves when the inevitable happens,” he argued

He concluded. “Maybe someday we can get rid of the smartphone. I would be completely fine with an old-style cellphone that could act as a wifi access point and had 3g/4g network access.”

Someday, every company will be stuck through a complaint.

Nokia sues Apple for 'patent infringement'

The iPad will go on sale in nine countries outside the US on 28 May, Apple says
The world's biggest mobile phone maker, Nokia, has filed a lawsuit against Apple claiming the iPad 3G and iPhone infringe five of its patents.

Nokia claims the infringements involve technology used to enhance speech and data transmission and antenna innovations for compact devices.

This is the latest salvo in a long-running legal battle between the two companies.

Nokia and Apple are embroiled in another dispute concerning the iPhone.

"We've taken this step to protect the results of our pioneering development and to put an end to continued unlawful use of Nokia's innovation," said Paul Melin, general manager of patent licensing at Nokia.

In a statement, the company said that during the past two decades Nokia has invested about $51bn (£34bn) in research and development and has rounded up 11,000 patents.

Last year Nokia filed a similar lawsuit which claimed that various Apple products infringed Nokia patents. Apple responded with a countersuit against Nokia for infringing Apple patents with its smartphones.

Meanwhile, Apple is also involved in another legal row with Taiwan's HTC, maker of Google's Nexus One phone, which it says has infringed patented technology.

Patent disputes are common in the technology industry and often end with some kind of licensing agreement, correspondents say.

The Nokia lawsuit came on the day Apple announced that its iPad tablet computer will go on sale in nine countries outside the US on 28 May.

    2. Dokdo winning over Takeshima in cyberspace

    3. Do you know 'Dokdo(독도)'?
Dokdo is a set of volcanic outcrops, located roughly 90 kilometers east of Korea's Ullung Island. Korea has exercised sovereignty over Dokdo during longer than 15 centuries, interrupted only by the 1910-1945 Japanese colonial rule. but, Japanese say that Dokdo is japan's territory. they named it 'Takeshima'. And they informed Takeshima to many people through mass media. So, in the past, the usages of Takeshima overwhelmed those of Dokdo in cyberspace. However, recent news reports and Web pages embrace the title of Dokdo more frequently. I think that Internet is so powerful tool. Because Internet spread truth that 'Dokdo' is korea territory or untruth that 'Takeshima' is japan territory to many people.

    ---------------------------------------------

Search Wikipedia for Takeshima and it will take you to Dokdo.

An increasing number of online English-language news reports adopt Dokdo over Takeshima as name of Korean islets Japan claims as hers in a protracted diplomatic dispute. This means the ruling on the cyber court is going in Seoul's favor.
As of 1:30 p.m. yesterday, a total of 165 query results were found for Dokdo on the news search service of Google, while the figure was 104 for Takeshima.
In the overall Web search of Google at the same time, the numbers of Internet sites including the words Dokdo and Takeshima were almost the same at slightly over 500,000.
"A couple of years ago, the usages of Takeshima overwhelmed those of Dokdo in cyberspace," said Jang Sung-il, an official at the Voluntary Agency Network of Korea (VANK).
"However, recent news reports and Web pages embrace the title of Dokdo more frequently. Obviously, it is an encouraging sign for us -- the world is beginning to buy the Korean idea," Jang added.

    2. Someone is stealing our personal information !

    3. Today many netizen create their own programs. I think they are so useful, but some of them have impure intention.
For example when we play Starcraft, someone use 'maphack'. It makes match to unfair rivalry. Also when we use one of korean SNS Cyworld, someone use 'guest chasor'.

It may be useful (ex. you read someone's mind), but it is a problem with privacy.
As far as I know today there are various programs which steal our presonal information. Because of this, I was fearful of feeding my personal information on web.

Even I mind sign up for a membership at PC방. Due to the widespread use of the internet there are many able netizens, but some of them raise question of ethics.

If government is not strike at the root of the stealing on web, it may cause more damages than now.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Website which steal personal information are creating many problems.

The latest website 'Cogle(podpod.wo.to/cogle.php)' is not only to search news but to search personal informations like blog ID, IP address, Cyworld address etc.

Cogle which is similar to Google is used in stealing personal informations. For this reason, cogle is causing problems about leaking of private informations.

If you use cogle, through a few searching, you simply get someone's informations. Netizen call that 'cogling' and some people are sharing a way of cogling.

We need more caution about ID to prevent cogling. If possible you will do better to set various ID on every website. Also, meaningless ID is good too. Especially you may as well don't use your real name on ID, and you had as good exclude searching of outside.

However on the one hand, cogle isn't keypoint on problem. Some expert said that "cogle is just a tool which steal personal informations, and the real problem is the stealing itself."

He said that "If you wanna protect your personal informations, you must tighten up security.

2.Researchers seek to find true level of cyberstalking.
3.It is obvious true that cyberstalking is an absolute offense by causing psychic harms. The victims have been threatened, stalked or vexed via e-mail or chatroom. According to a leader of the project, the criminals do not simply know an proper rule of reciprocal communication on the Internet. Whether the logical reason is right or wrong, this attempt is invaluable by exactly counting the number of the victims, which will be used for manage those crimes.
    ________
4.A new survey has been launched in an effort to find out the true level of cyberstalking in the UK.More than one million women and 900,000 men are stalked in the UK every year, according to the British Crime Survey.

    2. Invasion of privacy site

    3. The more people can do using a computer, the higher the possibility that people's privacy exposed. In the past, people wrote their privacy-related information on the diary or note. But now, they write these information on blog. Also they are albe to find the friend's blog easily through the Internet. You can know not only their current life but also their past life using few of the information that you konw others'. In the case of celebrity, writing or picture that they posted on the Internet in the past causes controversy. Through the Internet you can express your emotion and thinking. But your course of your life is found easily by the others.

    --------------------------

Through this site, search is possible depending on 18 items including Naver Ji-sik in(지식인, knowledge search site) ID search, cyworld internet address and name search, Daum blog ID search, IP information search etc. Not only invasion of privacy of

    2. Eyes must be wide open

    3. This article made me think about not only my internet use but also TV as a viewer. I like watching American soap opera. The information socuety makes it possible. There are many people connect to the other countries' shopping mall through this. And Smart tv is really interesting thing. So we have to keep our eyes wide in global market and networks.

    --------------------
the TV realm doesn’t have country or district codes. For instance, a Korean viewer watching an American TV program can connect to an online shopping mall to search and purchase the clothes and accessories the American entertainer is wearing.

TV will no longer function as a program broadcaster but rather as a window to a boundless world of information and entertainment.

The key to smart TV lies in the availability and accessibility to quality media content. The viewers and clients are in all parts of the world.

The content must be aimed at the global market. Otherwise local content providers will be wiped out by foreign players.

The licensing of new broadcasting and news providers must look beyond local competition and have eyes set at the broader global market. The digital momentum can either revive the Korean Wave or kill local media. The media world is changing at dizzying pace. The government, companies and the media industry must open their eyes wide to keep up.

    2.Human Relations on On-line
3.There are not people to live without Internet. People get on the Internet everyday and make their world. They make friends like off-line on on-line. Because of convenience of Internet, they increasingly sink into relation of Internet. There is no ploblem that my name, age and appearance. The man makes friends changing himself. Some people say that they need only internet to make friends and it is enough. However Is the depth deep like off-line? Can we get true relations like off-line?

    ----------------------------------------------

It happens that a man deceived member, borrowed money and stole it in reunion internet cafe. Internet cafe having some members or being made recently is incomplete about certification of member. A man made bad use of it. He joined a reunion internet cafe, disguised himself as a graduate and wrote 'I need money urgently'. Then someone lent money and he stole it. He was grabbed.
In tne future, I cannot believe my friend on on-line. I'm scary some people make bad use of internet in that face to face doesn't need on internet. How can we make fiends on on-line? I don't konw a man is true my friend. So, how can we become better friends with someone? I think it is impossible. Certainly, we can know lots of poeple. But all of them bocome my true friends. To be true friend, we have to face each other. Though Internet is development way, it is impossible to make true friends.

2.Have you heard about social games?

3.Everyone that tried the game at least once.
Since kindergarten, my parents go out to work, I myself had the time to play the game. There 'Super Mario World' really liked the game. As I grew older, the game also has to evolve. Starcraft, Counter-Strike, Warcraft, etc. .. These games are popular in Korea as well as the whole world of games is evident. But these games have goals in the game. We strive to achieve the goal in the game and enjoy it.

In contrast, Facebook and iPhone app game should pay attention to their relationships with others. Now the game is how many exchanges with his neighbors, and how attention is to maintain a good relationship.
Important evidence of social games for social networks which affect our lives.

    ---------------------------------------------

One of the most promising sectors: social games.
The term refers to games people can play online with friends they already connect with on social networking sites. Most of them are relatively simple compared to complex titles such as “World of WarCraft,” a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that requires a fair amount of savviness to master. But they excel in other areas, allowing users to strengthen ties with large numbers of friends.
Several titles already have an impressive following. “FarmVille,” one of the fastest-growing games on Facebook, allows players to tend virtual farms and trade items with other users. About 31 million people play the game each day, according to Zynga, which developed it.
While Korean game giants such as Hangame and Nexon have recently jumped on the bandwagon by releasing their own social games. Even security software provider AhnLab has joined the battle, founding a venture called Hedgehogs Plus to develop social games. Korean Web portal firms such as Daum and SK Communications, which run their own microblogging sites, have also entered the fray. NHN, Korea’s leading Web portal operator, is expected to launch a social game service next month.
Another emerging business model that capitalizes on the popularity of social networking sites is “social commerce,” where people make collective purchases with their online friends at cheaper prices. One successful example is Ticket Monster, which sells various products like tickets to theme parks, massage parlors and tour packages at discount prices.

    2. harmful information society

    3. The Internet is a great way to get useful information. But it has some negative aspects too. Sometimes we get information that are not intended. I don't think these information is healthy. If we accept these bad things thoughtlessly, it cause negative effect. For example, cyberbullying is becoming serious and increasingly widespread. And the flood of pornographic materials on the Internet or smart phone has become a serious social problem. People exposed harmful information for a long time, it can leads commit a crime.

In iPhone, adult industry sees pocket porn market

The porn industry is hiring girls to have live sex chats with Apple iPhone 4 oweners, using its new videoconference feature called FaceTime, according to news reports.
Using the iPhone 4's FaceTime, companies are developing video-sex chat services and are hiring workers through internet adverts in the United States, the Daily Mail reported.

FaceTime lets people call another iPhone 4 user and have live video conversations over a Wi-Fi connection through the phone's camera and screen.
AP reported with more than 3 million of the phones already sold, the adult industry stands to make big money on this new way to reach out and touch someone.
It said the rise of FaceTime porn puts Apple in an awkward position. Apple has rejected book apps for featuring sexual content and political satires for their potential to offend. While some rejected apps have been approved after revisions, Apple has kept one strict rule: No porn.
Apple, asked to comment on the emerging adult services, noted that people can choose whom they chat with, just like regular calls, and parents can turn off the FaceTime feature, according to AP.

    2. He cares? who cares? I don't care.

    3. How stupid and brutal his roommates are! On the web, we people easily become ignorance about others feeling or reactions because we don't know what they feel like. However, that doesn't mean we can do whatever as we please or it can be justified, we'd rather pay much more attention and care about how others feel. The boy and girl being charged with broadcasting their roommate private moment might think that it would be fun and got paid attention a lot, their roommate was just for fun to them. Dignity and respect were nothing beyond fun. Disgusting are they.

    ------------
4.It started with a Twitter message on Sept. 19: “Roommate asked for the room till midnight. I went into molly’s room and turned on my webcam. I saw him making out with a dude. Yay.” That night, the authorities say, the Rutgers University student who sent the message used a camera in his dormitory room to stream the roommate’s intimate encounter live on the Internet.

And three days later, the roommate who had been surreptitiously broadcast — Tyler Clementi, an 18-year-old freshman and an accomplished violinist — jumped from the George Washington Bridge into the Hudson River in an apparent suicide.

The Sept. 22 death, details of which the authorities disclosed on Wednesday, was the latest by a young American that followed the online posting of hurtful material. The news came on the same day that Rutgers kicked off a two-year, campuswide project to teach the importance of civility, with special attention to the use and abuse of new technology.
