    2. Can virtual land be owned?

    3. A virtual game, Second life where people cultivate land, buy real estate, and decorate their own place in its virtual internet world, recently revised its rules over land property, etc. Therefore, a group of users has sued the company for a breach of contract.

We can just laugh at this case or just regard those who invovled in this issue are nerds. However, the more the virtual life technology comes to our life, the more it occurs. Since people have spent amounts of money on virtual world or his/her characters, an avatar, this means not just simply 'virtual' anymore but can means his/her other 'self'. And the 'self' is made of money and time with efforts. Even, a number of people in the virtual world earn a huge amounts of money by using his/her creatures like what themselves do in the real world.

Hence, it is not strange that they claim the right of ownership over internet creatures and properties. Unless a law court takes it into significant case, the world will encounter with a whirlpool of class action lawsuit again as soon.

    --------------
    4. A group of Second Life users is suing Second Life’s creator over a virtual land dispute. They say their contractual property ownership rights have been changed and that this alteration of the terms of service constitutes fraud and violates California consumer protection laws.

Before you scoff too much at this seemingly ludicrous lawsuit, remember that virtual worlds aren’t just “funny money” and avatars. They’re serious business, both for the owners and investors who profit from them and for the users who pump hundreds and even thousands of dollars each into creating characters and interacting online.

Second Life’s parent company, Linden Labs, was recently valued at $383 million. The virtual world’s economy was at an all-time high when Q1 transactional data was reported last month. And although the economy is virtual, remember these transactions have a basis in very real funds.

The lawsuit gives rise to the question: Who owns virtual goods, the creators of the goods or the people who have paid virtual currency for them?

The users are claiming that Linden Labs and Founder Philip Rosedale persuaded them to invest money and pay a sort of “property tax” with the promise of actual ownership of virtual land. Now, the users say, the terms of service have been changed without their prior knowledge or consent. They say the new terms “state that these land and property owners did not own what they had created, bought and paid for, and that these consumers had no choice but to click on a new terms of service agreement or they could not have access to their property.” Moreover, the group alleges that Linden Labs froze user accounts and deleted or converted non-virtual currency and virtual property without giving any explanation or avenues for recourse.

    2. We can know the bus arrival time through the mobile phone

    3. You may have waited bus that doesn't come. Wating for bus, we only guess the bus arrival time waching the opposite side bus. But now, we can simply know the bus arrival time using the cellular phone. It is possible to check on calling regular phone number or using the wireless internet. No longer people wait for bus thoughtlessly. They know the exact bus arrival time and can choose another alternative.

    ---------------------------------------

The country`s three mobile carriers -- KTF, LG Telecom and SK Telecom -- announced yesterday that they will not charge the internet access fee arising from connecting to Seoul government`s bus time information service using mobile phones during December.

The month-long campaign is being held in collaboration with the city`s government to promote the use of public transport, the companies said.

Seoul`s bus time information service, which can be accessed by pressing 702 followed by the hash key, the bus stop`s serial number and the internet connection button, provides the time a bus is expected to arrive and the time of the last bus at a given bus stop.

Do you know Tablo who are hip-hop singer in S.Korea? He have received personal attack by people who believe that He's not really graduated from Standford univ. Even after police announcement that confirm his degree, still there are people blaming him. How pity! When I saw Tablo for some time past in TV, I thought he became thin. I think it is Korean serious problem. what they don't want to believe regard as false. We call them 'keyboard warrior'. They have Two face in accordance with their position ― online or offline. I guess reason they do is related to evasion of responsibility. In cyber space, even except me, There are many people who speak ill of Tablo. However, unfortunately, the person directly involved receive huge mental impact compared for Keyboard warrior's actions. Key board warrior attack person they know, the person are given curse by the anonymous. It may be so terrible. People hide themselves in Internet space, and Internet space is effective room they do.

    Cyber defamation

Korea needs better system to protect privacy

The libel suit surrounding a popular singer shows how easy it is for celebrities to fall prey to cyber defamation. Internet users are still refusing to accept the results of a police investigation confirming that Tablo, the leader of Korean hip-hop band Epik High, graduated from Stanford University.

It is baffling why the bloggers, who claimed the singer falsely promoted himself as a graduate of the prestigious American university, will not back down on their groundless allegations. It is apparent that they have gone too far in spreading false information in cyberspace.

The investigation kicked off in August after Talbo, 30, whose real name is Lee Sun-woong, filed a libel suit against 22 bloggers for spreading the allegations against him. But police announced Friday that the entertainer earned a bachelor and master’s degrees in English literature at the U.S. school, respectively in March 2001 and June 2002.

Despite the announcement, how can the bloggers still maintain that their claims hold water? Even some of them have threatened to take the case to Interpol to prove their allegations are true. What nonsense! What’s the reason for them to distrust Korean police who have confirmed Tablo’s diploma and other related documents at the school?

The reason is apparently that the bloggers tend to believe only what they want to do. In other words, they will not listen to anything they don’t want to. This is totally unreasonable, and is as if they are claiming that ``I’m always right, and you are always wrong.” It is against any logic of how things go in the world.

Of course, any one can fully enjoy freedom of speech in South Korea. However, such freedom does not mean debauchery or libertinism. Where there is freedom, there is responsibility. This is also true in cyberspace. Netizens need to keep in mind that they should be responsible citizens on the Internet.

Reckless criticism of others, especially entertainers and other celebrities, infringes on their privacy. There have been many victims of character assassination on cyberspace. To name a few, top actress Choi Jin-sil and singer Yuny killed themselves in 2008 and 2007, respectively, apparently because of online defamation.

There is no need to mention how devastating the effects of cyber defamation are on individuals, especially celebrities. Cyber violence is a direct reflection of the nation’s social malady of distrust and resentment among different groups of people. All members of our society should work together to better protect privacy and usher in a mature Internet culture.

    2. Using Facebook can lower exam results by up to 20 percent: study

    3.
Has social networking negatively affected the student?
Last week, I wrote good things of social networking sites as marketing tools. but, today, I want to know a bad thing of social networking site. Many young people spend too much time in social networking. because social networking is a best communicating system. In this reason, they were addicted to social networking. And their mind's on social networking prevent them for concentrate on his study. But, I think that the more the social networking sites penetrate our lives, the more this problem becomes the object of controversy.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
Students who use Facebook while they study get significantly lower grades than those who do not, Daily Mail reported.

It said, a study conducted by psychologists has found that the exam results of those who used the social networking site while working, even if it was on in the background, were 20 percent lower than non-users.

The author of the study, Professor Paul Kirschner said, "The problem is that most people have Facebook or other social networking sites, their emails and maybe instant messaging constantly running in the background while they are carrying out other tasks."

The findings undermine the theory that young people’s brains are better at multitasking on digital gadgets.

His team studied 219 students aged between 19 and 54 at an American university, Daily Mail reported.

    2. Home schooling

    3. On-line lecture is a best way of education systems. These days, many parents choose to home-school their children for many different reasons. They can study with no bound on time and place. And they can study that they want to. Maybe it is more efficient than go to school.
But it has problems too. School life is a commual living. Therefore students learn social skills from school. And homeschooling requires committed parents, both in time and finances.

Why distance learning has increased in popularity

Most notably, many people that utilize the distance learning option are slightly older than the average student, and they are actively employed on a full-time basis. This clientele needs to avail themselves of distance learning because of the time commitment required.

One of the major factors for the increased popularity of distance learning is the convenience factor. Working on the computer at home is convenient, comfortable, and not as socially awkward as the post-secondary years can be when housed inside of a learning institution.

Distance learning will continue to thrive as computer technology makes leaps and bounds on a regular basis. The days of attending classes with your peers will soon become a thing of the past. If you have a course that you would love to take, but cannot find the time during your hectic schedule, look into distance learning, and you may be able to take the course on-line, and fulfill any obligations that you may have in terms of attaining your degree or diploma, or if you are simply enhancing your resume for work-related purposes.

    2. Does Free WiFi Help Boost Profits at Coffee Shops?

    3. I think it's good that we can use the Internet everywhere. But free wifi doesn't bring profits at coffee shop for a long time. During a short period, free wifi seems help to coffee shop because of wifi users. However, if a customer order a single cup of coffee and have a seat for a long time, it's not helpful to coffee shop. For all that, if coffee shop make a limitation time, it's also not helpful to coffee shop. It looks not serious problem, but it's serious problem for a head of coffee shop.
    -------------
Does offering free WiFi service boost or drain a company's profits? As coffee shops and restaurants in Korea scramble to install WiFi hot spots in order to draw more customers, businesses in the U.S., one of the nations that first introduced the service, are beginning to doubt its benefits.

"Coffee shops were the retail pioneers of WiFi, flipping the switch to lure customers. But now some owners are pulling the plug," the Los Angeles Times reported recently. That's because some customers come to use the Internet and "camp out all day nursing a single cup of coffee," taking up room while contributing little to the bottom line.

Disconnecting the service has proved successful for some shops. "There is now a market niche for not having WiFi," a professor said. Such shops offer patrons a chance to "disconnect from the Internet and concentrate" on their thoughts.

    2. Useful promoting tool Twitter, now politicians think that too!

    3. Twitter is spreaded widely in Korea. So not long ago most people use cyworld, specially entertainers or politicians use it usefully, but now they are turning to Twitter. Twitter has strong point that people can comment quickly. That is, politians and normal people can talk to about real time news more easily. Of course, because of Twitter is general trend, simple promoting effect is efficient. Actually I also think that is true, so I started Twitter a few days ago. Most today's Korean are 'earlyadapter', so Twitter beat cyworld soon. So I will keep up with the changing times, start Twitter. Frankly, I don't want to hear that "You go out of style". Because I think I'm too young to hear that comment!

The No. 1 way to reach out to the public in this online networking era may be through blogs and Twitter, a tip which many top officials and politicians here have quickly grasped.

Education Minister Lee Ju-ho has recently started his personal blog titled “positive
change” (http://positive-change.tistory.com), according to officials Monday.

The minister will use the blog to post his off-the-record episodes, introduce significant
emails which he receives from netizens, or leave replies in the guestbook.

Another avid blogger in officialdom is Agriculture Minister Chang Tae-pyung.

Chang’s blog (http://taepyong.tistory.com), started last year in an attempt to resolve the
lack of communication between the public and the government, is frequented especially by
    citizens in the agricultural industry.

The contents of his blog have recently been compiled in a book and distributed to major
farmers’ associations and governmental offices, according to ministry officials.

Others are turning to Twitter, the online social networking system in which posters and
followers may leave short messages on a real-time basis.

Candidates eying the upcoming presidential election in 2012 have also rushed to make their debut on Twitter.

The top Twitter star among would-be presidential candidates is former Gyeonggi Governor Ryu Shi-min of the opposition camp, who has more than 100,000 followers (http://twitter.com/u_simin).

Rep. Park Geun-hye, the former head of the ruling Grand National Party who has recently
taken to twittering, is catching up with some 40,000 followers as of last month (http://twitter.com/GH_PARK).

Roh Hoi-chan of the minority New Progressive Party is also gaining popular interest and
support on Twitter, having 79,000 followers (http://twitter.com/hcroh).

    3. People are near to smart phone and others. I also have lots of interesting about that and am near to it(phone, mp3, laptop computer, electronic dictionary, etc). Especially, phone! I always put phone by me. When I wake up in the morning, that I first do is look for my phone. I also do sleeping. Of course, the reason I do is that phone needs to live without difficulty in information society. But isn't it trouble? I start to worry about it.
    ----------------------------------------
    4. The study that viruses are moved by touch phone. For several month ago, British consumer protections warned that phone has 18 times viruses than toilet. They explained that when we touch our mouth and nose with hands touching phone, viruses move into human body.
For preventing viruses, we should wash hands frequently. But though we wash hands, if we touch phone, it is useless. Also, spray or alcohol germicide can attack. This problem can be solved by "Cyber Clean" that it is a type of jelly and we can carry it.
After reading this article, I know that it isn't solution only to wash my hands. For my health, I try to search "Cyber clean" It is nonsense that I use smart phone spoiling my health. In the future, It need to study that protect people's health against information society's thing.

    2.‘Social networks going mobile’
    3. Nowadays, Social network is really hot issue.
Not only secial networking system, but also using smartphone. As smartphone users are increased, social networking service is also more activated. So, although I don't have smartphone, I always want to check my fb through borrowing friend's smartphone. Many people are addicted to social networking system. So smartphone is really good means to use social networking system.

    ---------------------------------

With the evolution of mobile technology, smartphones will boost social networking among people on the move, Chris Hughes, a Facebook co-founder, said Thursday.

Hughes founded Facebook in 2004 with his Harvard classmates Mark Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz. The most populous online community has more than 500 million active users worldwide, with more than 1.6 million in Korea.

Social networking services are increasingly becoming a powerful communication tool amid the growing number of online service providers stepping up their foray into social networking services on smartphones.

The 26-year-old entrepreneur sees the social networking trend shifting to mobile from traditional personal computers.

“PCs today become less important to the mobile devices we use today,” Hughes told reporters on the sideline of the 11th World Knowledge Forum in Seoul. “That’s one of the reasons that Facebook is making an incredible investment in global technology.”
